Liptov - it's not only Jasná and cheese products

Most of us know the Liptov region mainly for its natural beauty, typical cheese products and tourism. However, many of us visit Jasná for skiing or climb Chopok in summer. However, this region offers much more than just the notorious tourist spots. So hop off the red tourist sign for one of our tips and enjoy your well-deserved time off to the max!

In the summer heat, you can cool down in the "Liptovské morе", as the largest Slovak water reservoir, Liptovská Mara, is unofficially nicknamed. We recommend a sightseeing catamaran cruise from the harbour in Liptovský Trnovec, which you can pay for with a voucher. If you would like to stay longer in the vicinity of Liptovská Mara, you will find several accommodation options in our cafeteria. The Maladinovo Apartments near the Tatralandia Aquapark offer privacy. Right on the grounds of the famous Aquapark, you can stay in wooden cabins. If you crave a bit of luxury, you will be pampered at the four-star Hotel Janosik, right in the centre of Liptovský Mikuláš.

Do you want to spice up your holiday with a little adrenaline? For benefit points you can try for example rafting down a wild river, quad biking or paintball in the Rafting Adventure in Liptovský Mikuláš. Did you encounter bad weather during your holiday and you don't know what form of entertainment to invent for your children? Take the family to the Liptovlasers entertainment centre and try laser tag or the escape room.

Nízke Tatry - a paradise for tourists

Ďumbier, Chopok, or Kráľova Hola are perhaps the most famous peaks of the Nízke Tatry. If you don't like crowds, try climbing Dereše, for example. It's a more challenging terrain, but it's worth it for the amazing views. There are also 42 cycling routes in the Nízke Tatry, which total up to 377 km. More demanding routes lead to the foot of the peaks, but less skilled cyclists can also choose routes around Liptovská Mara or across the Demänovská valley, which can also be combined with a visit to the Demänovská cave.

We have a really wide choice of accommodation in this area. Do you prefer apartments, smaller or bigger hotel? No problem, in our cafeteria you will surely choose.

Weekend tip? The open-air museum in Vlkolínec and the cable car to Nová Hoľa

Ideal weekend trip within commuting distance from Western Slovakia. A great tourist attraction of the Liptov region is the wooden open-air museum in Vlkolínec. The typical wooden log cabins, which are on the Unesco World Heritage List, are definitely worth a visit. And you can combine a trip to Vlkolínec with a stop in the Donovaly Mountains. Here we recommend the cable car to Nová hoľa, which runs every half an hour. If you are travelling with children, try the Gothal accommodation in Liptovská osada, where you can stay overnight in an apartment, in a stylish cottage with original design, or in a guesthouse. They also boast the largest hut in the Liptov region.
